mScan

mScan takes receipts, invoices and documents in — from the office scanner by email, or from a phone with the scan app — reads them, and files the results where you keep them: a clean PDF in SharePoint or your eb8-cloud, a receipt sheet with every detail, a row in the expense spreadsheet.

mScan is a service of Earlybyte GmbH in Winterthur, Switzerland.

How mScan works

1. Capture. Your printer or scanner sends documents to an mScan address of your own, or your people photograph receipts with the scan app. Everyone has their own scan link; nothing needs installing from an app store.
2. Read. mScan crops photos, straightens pages and reads the details: on a receipt the shop, date, amount, currency and VAT rates; on an invoice also its number and due date; on a document the sender and title.
3. File. mScan files the results by your rules — folders and file names built from what it read, e.g. 2026/2026.09.24_Migros.pdf:
   • in OneDrive or SharePoint in your Microsoft 365, as a file or as a row in an Excel workbook (more),
   • in your eb8-cloud,
   • as an email with the document attached,
   • as a row in an Excel workbook, e.g. one row per VAT rate for expense reports.

Whatever could not be read clearly is marked for a look; you correct it in mScan and file the document again.

Security and privacy

• Documents are stored encrypted, with a key of their own per customer; the servers are in Germany. To read documents, mScan uses AI models from Google and OpenAI.
• mScan only reaches the places you set up and allow — in Microsoft 365, only the folder a person at your company connects for it, and only with that person's rights (more).
• Every connection is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). You sign in with a one-time code by email; mScan stores no passwords.
