Scan app

With the scan app you photograph receipts, invoices and documents with your phone and send them to mScan. It runs in the browser; nothing needs installing from an app store.

Opening it

Everyone with the Scan role has their own scan link. Your company's managers send it to you — as a link, by email, or as a QR code you scan with your phone's camera. Keep the link to yourself: whoever has it can send documents in your name.

Install it as an app: double-tap the header to open the menu and choose Install the app. On an iPhone: in Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen.

Scanning

  1. At the top, choose what you scan: Receipt, Invoice or Document. You see what is switched on for you.
  2. Tap Scan. If a category list is set up for you, choose the category first; the same tap opens the camera.
  3. Photograph the document. Next or Add page takes more.

  4. Tap Send.

  5. Receipts: every photo is a receipt of its own. Collect up to 30 and send them with one tap; they all get the same category.

  6. Invoices and documents: the photos are the pages of one document (up to 10).
  7. A photo lying sideways: tap Turn. × removes a photo.
  8. The category is shown above the photos; tap it to change it.
  9. mScan does the cropping and straightening — just photograph the whole document.

On a computer, drag PDFs or photos onto the drop area, or pick them with choose files. A PDF is sent as a document of its own.

Sending without reception

Photos stay on the phone until mScan has stored them safely. Without reception the app waits and sends on its own once there is a connection again — even after the app was closed. A green tick means: arrived at mScan.

Recent lists what you sent (for 7 days). An entry showing an error cannot be accepted as it is — the reason is shown with it.

PIN and fingerprint

In the menu (double-tap the header) you can set a PIN; the app then locks when opened and after a minute in the background. On devices that support it you can then also unlock with your fingerprint or face. The PIN stays on the phone.

Forgot your PIN? Forgot your PIN? removes the PIN and clears the documents on this phone. Or ask your company's managers to reset your PIN — then the documents are kept.

If you work for several companies, open each link once; then switch between them with Switch at the top. Each link has its own PIN and its own documents.

Help

  • "This scan link no longer works": the link was replaced or revoked. Ask your company's managers for a new one.
